Be-lated

Happy New Year to everyone!
and also a very be-lated merry christmas!

I must say, this christmas and new years was alot different for me than those in the past. Christmas more so than new years though.

Here in germany christmas is celebrated much the same as in america, except its not as important. I don't know where the notion of germany being into christmas came from, but I can tell you right now. They aren't.
And as some one who is very very very into christmas, and would live underneath a christmas tree if she could. I found it very disappointing.
Though, on the bright side I got to experince a different culture.

But before I go any further, I just want to say that I love my family so much and they made me feel so loved even though I'm so far away. Thank you everyone for all the cards and presents. I cried while reading them. I wish I was there to hug and thank you all in person. <3
Oh and CONGRATs to julie, I heard she's pregnant! So, if you talk to her tell her I said so

Happy Birthday Mr.Young

I´m sorry to report nothing has proved of much interest since I last wrote. I stayed a weekend at Emilys house in Kappeln, and we went out in the city with some friends. We also saw Highschool Musical 3, I would give a review on the movie but seeing as though I never saw Highschool Musical 1 or 2, and the movie bieng entirely in german, I don´t think I am the best audience to give one. I will say though that if you dont understand everything it´s a blast to make your own story line in your head and go with that. We also had cocktails with her boyfriend, and unexpectadly, his parents were there and paid for them. Which, was very nice because they aren´t cheap. I have always been prepared to wait atleast 3yrs. before i ever got to order a Sex on the Beach for myself, but alas I can do it here no problem.

This past weekend I didn´t really do anything though. I slept over my friend Lisay house on friday, we watched sex and the city and ate ice cream. It was nice, but i couldnt help but wish I wasnt with some german stranger watching sex and city, but i was watching it with my bestfriends like normal. I didn´t realize till I got here just how unique and fun all my friends are. German girls are boring and shallow. Without bieng able to call bridgette every time something seemingly unimporant but yet instrumental to us happens, I´m at lose ends.
On that note, I did call home this past saturday and got to talk to her. Wished her a belated 18th birthday and all that, go to talk to kristina too! I felt alot better after talking to them. Ive been nervous about being over here, and if maybe my friends had forgotten about me and such. But I feel better now.
I also called Chris after promising for over a week I would, but its just uncomfortabele to ask to use the phone. i dont know why. Anyway, he was on his way to work but it still was nice to talk to him. Though, after speaking with him and bridge, I just miss home that much more.

Halloween

Okay, I'm sorry for never updating. But I promise I'll get better at it now.
I've either been really busy or I dont have a computer with interent.
But anyway some updates:
I was supposed to be changing host families, because I do not get along with mine all that well. And I had stayed with my new family for a week or so and went to denmark with them. But now somehow I'm back in my old family AGAIN. I've asked fro over a month to switch families, and now that have one, I get along great with them, they'll take me as soon as possible..but No, for some reason I'm not there. I'm so pissed about my current situation it's too hard to put into words.

So anyway, today is halloween! Though, germans don't really celebrate it. It's just another day over here, and it's sad. It makes me really miss home, which I've been doing enough anyway.
Tonight I think I'm going to Kappeln ( a neighboring city) and going to see Highschool Musical 3 with Emily and her host sisters. I dont really want to see it, but it's better than nothing. And afteward we'll probally go to a pub or something, who knows.
Then tomorrow, a bunch of exchange students are going to Flensburg to go out. Which, should be fun.

Ich möchte eine bier bitte

Hallo!
I'm sorry, that I haven't updated in ages, I've just been very busy.
This weekend I had my first rotary weekend, and it was alot alot of fun. We stayed at some house camp thing that was Adolf Hitlers vaction home, so I'm told. But it was very nice.
Friday, Oswald, Arturo, nora, hannah, and myself all took the train three hours to get there. That was my first experince on the train, and I have to say It wasnt too bad. Once we arrived I immeditaley went to find Emily and Angelo! ( USA and Argentina) We all had dinner then we got to listen to the rules of rotary. The rotarians all spoke in english which was fantastic.

Well, pick up your gear and gypsy roll on, roll on.

So yesterday I begrudginly attended Heikes brothers birthday party.

I have to say, I never appreciated my family as much as I do until I went there. The germans never really said one word to me, because i didnt know german I assume. We all just sat in the room and the family just spoke softly to eachother, there were actually akward silences! It was the oddest thing I have ever experinced. And not that I need someone to hold my hand, but they didnt try to include me one bit in anything! If someone who was deaf, blind, and dumb came to any birthday party or something of my family we would find any means to make the person feel included! ( Also, thank you guys so much for commenting on this blog, it makes me so happy when you do! LOVE YOU)
But anyway, we eventually left the party. And on the way out my host dad gave me and my 13 yr old host brother, alexander, large long baguettes to hold. So naturally, I turn over to Alex and in my best darth vader voice challenge him to a lightsaber battle. So there we are in the kitchen with all the akward germans dueling with baguettes, or in our mind, lightsabers. It was the funniest thing that happended at that entire party ( for me atleast.) l dont think i gave Heikes family a very good impression of americans but honestly, i could careless. i just wanted my own family. Uncle Bill, Karen, Debbie, Nana, all those little girls with the three letter names ( Ava, Gia,etc.) And everyone else

Will someone please buy me Frank Sinatra:Nothing but the Best CD? It's relatively new and I cant find it anywhere here.I also cant download it onto my computer because no Wifi anywhere.
I promise I'll send you something German in return :)

Too cool for school

Right now I should be attending my ever rigourus math class, but instead im here, in the library updating my blog. Nothing too exciting has went on since I last posted. Two days ago I went to a BBQ in a neighboring village. It was for all the exchange students in surronding areas. I met alot of people, alot of them were germans who went to the US. The food was good, very american actually. Hot dogs, potato salad, salad, and jello. But it was delious opposed to the bland nasty food my host family feeds me.
Today is my long day of classes, I´m here till 3:30. But thats only because my last two classes are art. I havent been to art yet, so im excited. Its a class I can actually do! Hell maybe be good at!
Tonight I have to attend a birthday party with my host family. I´m not too excited about this though, its my host moms brothers brithday. And considering she knows NO english, i doubt her family will either. So, atleast I can avoid the inevitable akward small talk by the food table.

This satuday I´m going to a music festival however! Its mostly rock bands and alternative music, so I´m very excited! Its not that far away from my village so i may be riding a bike there. Because if not im not sure how im supposed to get back. One girl told me to go there around 8pm, and people will leave around 5 am. 5am?! I´m supposed to peddle my lazy ass home 10 km at 5oclock in the morning! Think again.
Oh well ill figure it out and let you know

Corn 80% alchol 100% disgusting

So, last night was my first official german party! Woo-hoo.
It was surprisingly different than all the american parties. First there were a ton of people there. You had to be 16 to get in, but they didnt check my Id and I get the 18yr and over stamp with no problem, so no being kicked out at midnight for me! We didnt get there till around 10:30, and didnt leave till 4ish. People apperantly party till 6 here, not me, I'm a lazy american. My feet started hurting at 1 for christ sakes. but overall it was very fun, I'm meeting some cute german boy in flensburg on monday, lisas coming with me, thank god. And we may all go see The Dark Knight in english. But im still not sure about this german fellow, he was with some ugly girl on the bus earlier yesterday, i asked him about it, and it was his girlfriend. Well, I'd like to have a few words with her about him haha. Poor girl. Oh well, overall it was very fun, and i ended up sleeping over this girl Nellys house. I kept saying WHHOOAAA NELLLY all night, but noone got it. Hmmph. Germans think I'm very strange I think.
Today, I was supposed to meet up with Chris in Flensbug maybe, but I dont think I'm up for it. And All the roads are closed due to a marathon. Go figure
